Secure Container Release for CMA CGM in the UK

From [Q4 202X], CMA CGM import releases in all UK ports it serves are issued and passed on digitally through Secure Container Release (SCR). Here's what that means for you as a freight forwarder or transport company.

What is SCR?

SCR is a platform to receive, manage and pass on container releases digitally. The ocean carrier issues the release in SCR, and each party passes it on to the next, up to the company that collects the container. More than 8,000 logistics companies in over 25 countries use SCR every day.

Why is CMA CGM moving to SCR?

Today, a pincode is issued for each container and passed from party to party, from the ocean carrier through the freight forwarder and the transport company to the driver. Whoever holds that pincode can collect the container. Every handover is a moment where it can be shared, intercepted or misused, and once it's passed on, there's no way to see who has it.

  • For security reasons, SCR is invite-only. If you don't have an account yet, you will receive a personal invitation, either from CMA CGM or from a partner you work with, such as your freight forwarder. The link in that invitation takes you straight to onboarding.

  • Yes. Your CMA CGM releases appear in your existing account, covered by your current SCR Basic or Premium plan.

  •  New companies get a 3-month free trial of SCR Premium. After that, you choose SCR Basic (free, with the ID wallet on your own premises or cloud) or SCR Premium (paid, no IT effort). See pricing here.

  •  No. CMA CGM only issues the release to you.
